Amsterdam Holidays
Amsterdam is an exciting, as well as beautiful city. Apart from numerous tourist attractions, the city is home to many festivals and cultural events which take place throughout the year.
An Amsterdam city break takes you to an interesting, historic town with superb architecture, fascinating museums and galleries, a network of canals, and hundreds of bars, restaurants, and shops. It is a very relaxed city where many different cultures live side by side in harmony. The Dutch as a whole, are noted for their liberal and tolerant attitudes.
Museums are one of Amsterdam's main tourist attractions and there are plenty from which to choose. The most well-known are the Van Gogh, the Anne Frank, the Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk Museum. The science museum, NEMO, is a favourite with children who enjoy the many interactive exhibits.
An Amsterdam city break would be incomplete without a trip down the canals. The colourful seventeenth century merchants houses are best viewed from the water. The Red Light district is a curiosity that most visitors seem unable to resist. Near it, is the Oude Kerk, a gothic church from the fourteenth century, the oldest in the city. If your stay is short you will need to plan your visit well as there are so many famous and intriguing sights. With great squares, parks and gardens, shops and markets, bars, clubs and restaurants, your Amsterdam city break will never be dull.
